FAQs

  • A layered vector .ai or .psd exported at 300dpi is best. If that sounded like gibberish to you, just send us whatever you’ve got or put us in contact with your designer. In most circumstances, we can make “low quality” files work; depending on the necessary time to make your file “printable” there may be an additional graphic design fee. We will always disclose all graphic design fees before beginning a project.

  • Totally! Our shop dog/HR department would love some scratches. We have select sample items in-house for you to check out, as well as swatch books.

There will be active construction going on in/near our shop throughout 2023, please ignore the mess and come see us anyway!

  • Absolutely! Depending on what you’re looking for, we will either complete your design in-house or contract one of our fabulous local graphic designers who is best suited for your project.

  • There is no discount for reorders because we do not charge screen or setup fees. Most shops that provide this type of discount charge an initial screen and/or setup fee. At Old Eastern Ink Shop, we cut out those extra fees to give you the lowest price possible on every order.

  • Nope! We custom mix all colors in-house for every project and love it when clients want to print crazy colors.

  • Etsy can be a great place for design inspiration; however, we will never print a design from another artist without their permission. If you’ve found an item you like online, we encourage you to support the artist who created it! We are also happy to work with you to create a new design inspired by something you’ve seen.

  • We source tens of thousands of items from many different manufacturers and wholesalers. Typically, we will provide several recommendations based on your project. If you’d like to look through options yourself, we will happily supply you with links to our wholesalers’ catalogs.

  • Basic blank tees typically start around $2.50/shirt. Prices fluctuate depending on the supplier.

  • This totally depends on who you’re printing for! A hardcore metal band has a different audience from a brewery or a sports league or a festival. We can give you advice based on other clients. Generally speaking, you should always order more larger sizes than you think you need.

  • We exclusively print on textiles/fabrics. However, we’re always excited to experiment with something new! We’ve printed on guitar straps, cardboard, jock straps, and more. If you have a crazy idea, don’t hesitate to ask - it’s our favorite way to grow.

  • Sure! As screen printers, we have access to negotiated wholesale pricing that the general public does not, so we do not typically recommend sourcing your own items. However, we’re happy to print on your items depending on the item specifications (100% cotton, 50/50 blend, etc). In circumstances where the client is supplying blanks, a minimum of 2 extra item per 20 is required for each design and style.

  • Totally! As long as the print remains identical (same size and colors) feel free to pick out as many items as you’d like.

  • We can print any color with no charge for custom mixing. Providing us with a Pantone is the best way to ensure an accurate color. Alternatively, we will match the hex code in your digital design as close as possible. Keep in mind that different monitor and screen settings may results in slightly different colors.

  • We can print 7 colors per location. We use halftoning to help create shading. We can also print gradients to create a rainbow or ombre effect.

  • Every order requires test shirts. If the test shirts are perfect the first time we will either keep the item for our portfolio or give it to you. Enjoy your bonus gift!

  • Maybe! Our turnaround time varies throughout the year, but is typically 2 weeks from payment. However, if we’re able to source materials quickly enough and are ahead of schedule for the week, we do accept rush orders for an additional fee depending on the order.

  • Our minimum is 20 items per order. We do not typically print samples, however if you have a larger or special order, feel free to reach out and we might be able to make it happen! We are also able to order blank samples for just the cost of the item if you’d like to see/feel the item first.

  • Halftoning is a technique that uses lots of tiny dots to create shading. For example, when printing a photorealistic black and white image, we use halftones to create shading instead of several different shades of grey.

  • All screen printers use glue to hold items down when printing. But don’t worry! The glue is water soluble and will come out in the wash.

  • This might be our most frequently asked question. We are not a tattoo shop. However, if you show up at Nick and Molly’s house with a 6 pack they can probably give you a stick-and-poke.
